LO1 - Business Report

Sumo digital is a sheffield based company that has evolved from gremlin studios into what it is today. They produce games for many different platforms and the only studio in the world to create both microsoft and sony games from within the same studio. The platforms that they cater to are Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS and mobile devices

The majority of content they create are racing games or  addition content for racing games, They generally aim for a younger audience, releasing games that are most family friendly or made to cater to parents who want to buy their children games that they won't have to worry about them playing. with the only game that was rated 18 by pegi being their "Ignition" DLC for dead space
Since 2004 they have released 28 full titles for various game franchises and have also released several pieces of DLC for various games and ports of games to different platforms.

Sumo use the unreal engine for their development. They have recently announced their newest project "Crackdown 3" which utilizes said engine to for a new open world experience. this also required Sumo to hire new staff, with this being one of their most ambitious projects to date.
Sumo Digital were given the task of porting the Forza Horizon 2 from the Xbox ONE which is was being developed for to the Xbox 360. This meant downgrading textures and making small differences to the coding, which would allow the game to run on the less powerful consoles without changing the overall experience or lessening it so much that it would ruin the game.
